POTTING UP FOR THE PITT COUNTY ARBORETUM PLANT SALE

Master Gardeners have been busy potting up perennials, trees, shrubs, herbs, vines, herbs and roses for the upcoming (MAY 18, 2013) plant sale.  Last week they braved wind and cold weather and this week it was all sun and hot!  But they forged ahead being the good gardeners they are.  Here are some pictures of them working.  Hundreds and hundreds of plants have been divided and put in pots.

CHOCOLATE VINE

Covering one of the entrances to the Children's Garden is Akebia quinata (chocolate vine).  This is a fast growing, vigorous vine that also could be a ground cover.  It has a chocolately-purple flower that blooms in early spring with a delicate chocolate scent.  Click here for more information:  Chocolate Vine

Entrance to Children's Garden- Vine is on the left side of the trellis.
